Dani Alves Snubs Man City, Joins PSG

Manchester United have stolen a march on Tottenham Hotspur after holding talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the possible signing of Serge Aurier, according to a report in The Sun.

The Sun says City boss Pep Guardiola is fuming about the late change of mind from Alves and is determined to bring in three fullbacks before the start of the season.

"I am extremely pleased to join Paris Saint-Germain", he told the club's website. I know the ambitions of my new club and the expectations of its many supporters throughout the world.

The 34-year-old, who was convinced on joining English giants Manchester City FC (MCFC), has made a surprising U-turn, which has left everyone including MCFC coach Pep Guardiola in state of shock.

Smart transfer deals such as this one enable PSG to keep most of their transfer budget intact and if they can show similar intelligence in other positions, they could still make one mighty splash when needed - possibly in attack or attacking midfield.

Juve even consented to tearing up the final year of his contract to allow Alves to move to the Premier League - but circumstances quickly changed after his wedding. "The more good players we have, the more chances we'll have to achieve it".

Instead, it will almost certainly be Aurier who is granted a summer departure and if that happens, replacing the Ivory Coast international with the South American will be a wise - albeit short-term - move.

While the Etihad chief is disappointed, his old Nou Camp favourite was not coming as his first choice right-back anyway. "However, I have friends here in Paris and my wife loves the city", said the decorated defender.

Jose Mourinho is scouring the market for defensive reinforcements this summer and Aurier, among others, has emerged as a serious target. L'Equipe report that PSG are paying the Brazilian €14m per year on a two year deal, such high wages because the player arrives for free.
