At D23 Expo 2017, Walt Disney Chairman, Bob Chapek, showed a detailed model of the 14-acre park known as 'Galaxy's Edge', that is currently being built at Disneyland's Hollywood Studios. The lands will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life - and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action, according to Disney Parks Blog.

When it opens, the park will have two main attractions: one in which guests can pilot the Millennium Falcon and another where guests are put into a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The Walt Disney Company's (DIS) biennial fan event, D23 Expo, took place in Anaheim over the weekend, and the House of Mouse had some major announcements for the thousands of Disnerds in attendance.

Disney rolling out a few anticipated theme parks and movie trailers. The footage shows the emotional journey that the cast and crew have made since the beginning of the venture. Disney Vice President of Advanced Development Mike Goslin introduced the concept.

First and foremost is the fact that although work is currently underway in both Anaheim and Orlando, the former will open first in 2019. Now, Disney has confirmed that Walt Disney World in Florida will indeed feature a "100% immersive" Star Wars resort.
